Bell Microsystems sponsors – and wins – Betfair Pro-Am golf event

Bell Microsystems – a leader in IT solutions and IT lifecycle management services – not only sponsored the fifth, annual betfair.com Pro-Am golf tournament, but also saw one of its own teams take the title.  Organised by Betfair – a pioneer in the provision of online betting exchange services – this year’s event was held at the recently opened Luton Hoo Hotel, Golf and Spa, which is set in over a thousand acres of parkland and gardens created by the famous eighteenth-century landscape designer, Capability Brown.

The tournament included 24 teams of four players – each including a sports star from the world of cricket, golf, horse racing or rugby union.  Bell Microsystems’ winning team was led by the company’s Sales Director, John Davenport, and included the Lancashire and England cricket star, Jimmy Anderson.  In addition to providing an opportunity for participants to showcase their golfing talent, the event also helped to raise funds for SportsAid – a charity that has spent over 30 years helping young British sportsmen and women at a point when they are starting on the road to success.

“We have a very strong and close working relationship with Betfair and we were proud to be a sponsor and event partner for this year’s Pro-Am tournament,” comments John Davenport, Sales Director, Bell Microsystems.  “From the very first tee, the competitive spirit kicked-in and it was every team for itself, and we thoroughly enjoyed the day.

“A growing number of business customers rely on Bell Microsystems’ comprehensive, ‘cradle to grave’ IT Lifecycle Management Services.  This side of the business provides seamless management – from new kit supply and consultancy, through to secure data destruction and WEEE compliant disposal & recycling.”

Barry Bone, Group Procurement Manager, Betfair – who, alongside Bell Microsystems’ John Davenport and James Davenport was part of Bell Microsystems’ winning golf team – comments:  “Bell Microsystems has been a key technology partner to Betfair, since 2006.  Being a part of the winning team at Luton Hoo was a great way of further developing our relationship.  The Betfair ProAm event is getting stronger each year – it’s a valuable opportunity to build on business relationships, have some fun and support charity at the same time.  The Great Britain team’s success at the Beijing Olympics helps to underline the value of the work undertaken by SportsAid.  This summer’s success has really raised expectations for London 2012 – so supporting SportsAid is more important than ever.”
